OKUMM

The Okumm platform is a business modeling application.

THE PROBLEM

Traditional business modeling software is mostly desktop-based, expensive, and can be very complex. This makes it difficult for businesses to create and update their models quickly and easily.

How do we design and develop a tool that can empower an individual business analyst to create a complete business model from start to finish with minimum effort and make money from offering this platform?

Here are some of the key challenges we encountered when designing the application:

  • The tool must be easy to use and understand. Even if the tool is very powerful, it will not be successful if it is too complex or difficult to use.

  • The tool must be comprehensive. It must cover all of the key aspects of business modeling, from the value proposition to the financial model.

  • The tool must be flexible. It must be able to accommodate a wide range of business models, from simple to complex.

  • The tool must be scalable. It must be able to handle large and complex business models.

HIGH LEVEL TIMELINE

30 days for research, 15 for design and wireframing, 90 for MVP development and testing.

MAKE OF THE TEAM

UX/UI designer, Financial manager, Front - End Developer

KEY GOAL

To understand specific user needs, study competitors and craft design specifications.

MY ROLE

As a UX/UI designer, I had to conduct customer analysis, user research, prototyping, wireframing, and UI screens.

My goal was to create an application that is easy to use, intuitive, and visually appealing. I also had to ensure that the application meets the needs of the users and stakeholders.

UNDERSTANDING THE USER

I started the user interviews by reaching out to a few business analysts who I knew were using business modeling tools. I asked them about their current pain points, their goals, and their expectations for a new business modeling application.

I also asked them to show me how they used business modeling tools. I took note of the common pain points that the users had mentioned and also took note of the features that they wanted in a new business modeling application.

After the user research, I started brainstorming ideas for how to solve the users' pain points and implement the features they wanted.

WIREFRAMING AND TESTING

We created over 110 wireframes, which we used to create a low-fi prototype.

We used Balsamiq to work collaboratively on the creation of wireframes, and a prototype to conduct further tests.

USER INTERFACE DESIGN

The client was very specific when it came to how the app should look and feel. With an emphasis on a clean minimalistic polished finished.
